In translation from Persian to German, it is inevitable that much of the intricacies are lost. However, the present translations have attempted to retain some of the rhythm and rhyme as well as the imagery and the core message of each poem, though often in feeble ways, only to attempt to present a glimpse of the poets' mastery.
The present book is a selection of Iranian poems, from Roudaki (4th century) to the present day, translated into German by Dr. Purandocht Pirayech. Also included is a magnificent introduction by Abd-o Hosain Zarinkoub, completed by some lovely Iranian miniature paintings which add to the richness of the book.
